Replace all of soffit

Hi there i have a soffat board that the last 6" of it have been badly ruined by rain so do i replace just that area or do i need to take of the whole 20ft and replace it?

H,

IF WOOD IS IN SOUND CONDITION ALONG REST OF LENGTH, CUT BACK TO A COUPLE OF RAFTER/LEG WIDTHS (16"*2=32")AND FIT IN NEW PIECE.

IF YOU CAN'T CUT THROUGH SOFFIT IN CENTRE OF RAFTER/LEG, CUT TO SIDE AND FIX BATTEN TO RAFTER/LEG TO WHICH YOU CAN FIX SOFFIT BOARD.
