Replace two-way two-light switch with one dimmer

by amark16 » Thu Oct 09, 2014 7:13 pm

Hi everyone,
I have a 2-switch light switch downstairs which controls the upstairs landing light and hall pendant and want to replace this with a single dimmer for the hall light, and "deactivate" or "isolate" the landing light wiring downstairs(i'm happy to control this from upstairs only).
Please see the photos below, I hope they are clear enough for someone to help me with the wiring.
many thanks

I have never had any luck with pictures on this site. In the main two way switches use L1 and L2 to switch and on/off uses Com and L1.

There are dimmers designed to work as two way with as special slave switch. There are also dimmers which will still work as two way but dimming can only be controlled at the master. Also there are units that fit in the ceiling rose which allow RF control these even work with a remote like you use for the TV.
