Replacing concrete Hearth with Floorboards

Postby Rich_Ronco » Fri Apr 25, 2008 2:27 pm

Does anyone have any experience of having to replace a hearth with floorboards ?

My problem is this: I want to sand the floorboards that are in my dining room but the chimney breast / fireplace that was originally in the room has been removed leaving a concrete / tiled hearth.

Is this something I should be getting a builder to do ? I have fairly decent DIY skills but am not sure whether this project will entail replacing joists etc.. Am I taking on something that usually requires a professional ?
