Replacing What I Thought was a 1 Gang 1 way Dimmer Switch but it's not What I Expected and Confused With how the Circuit is Wired

I have ordered a 1 gang 1 way smart dimmer switch, to replace what I thought was the same dimmer switch on the wall in the lounge. Foolishly I didn't check beforehand!. We have 2 ceiling lights controlled by a single dimmer. I took the existing switch off to check the wiring, only to see it is a 2 way dimmer switch, but I can't work out why it would be 2 way or the wiring.

There is no other switch to control the lights so its not 2 way?? I have 2 brown wires into the live, 1 brown wire into L1 and 2 black wires into L2. The 2 black wires have a strip of brown sleeve on them further up which I am guessing means they could be live at some point?

Any ideas what might be going on or some suggestions as to how I can find out??
