Restoring Victorian Fireplace and Concerns With Back Bottom Panel

Post by toribear » Wed Aug 09, 2017 8:02 am

Hi
Can anyone help me. I was given this fireplace that needs some restoration. My main concern is the back bottom panel which I assume was damaged when removed. Is it repairable and what type of tradesman would do it. I've seen a couple of places that restore Victorian fireplaces online but they are all London based and I'm in Devon. Can anyone make suggestions to me that will help me restore this piece back to its former glory.

Ps the grate and front bars are also long gone and wonder if it's possible to replace them and if this would hide the damage at the back ?

Thanks

Victoria
