Revamping Existing Laminated Kitchen Worktops - Is This Possible?

Hi all

I'm currently giving my kitchen a bit of a lift, new floor, tiles skirting and architrive and a lick of paint.

My wife keeps bugging me about the worktops saying she wants new ones but it out of our budget at the moment. Is there anything I can do to the old laminated worktops to give them abit of a boost to shine them up again maybe?
