Sealing Natural Tiles

I am fitting granite tiles which need sealing to avoid staining. Do i paint the sealer over very face of the tile, just top face & edges, bottom face & edges or every face?

i'd do the top and sides. leave the bottom.

is it unpolished?

polished granite doesn't usually require sealing.
