Shower tray removal on ground floor - what to do with old waste pipe

by ColDaly » Fri Mar 13, 2015 7:22 pm

Hi,

Thanks for reading.

I've recently removed our downstairs shower, essentially a cupboard with an over head tap!, and looking to remove the shower tray...this was fairly heavy! Under the shower tray is a hole in the concrete with a waste pipe tail that runs outside.

Do I need to do anything with this pipe or can I just fill it with concrete? The reason I ask is that the pipe is embedded under concrete and runs for a good 10ft by the looks of things.

Cheers

Col

Hi Col
The most sensible approach would be to locate the other end of the pipe, disconnect, and cap off. Only then would it be OK to seal off the hole in the floor.
