hello there,
i am thinking about upgrading my shower [its well old]. its served us well for the last 10 years. problem is i have looked in the loft to locate the cable and it appears to be a 6mm, the shower i think is about 7.5kw and is running on a 32A MCB on a TN-S system. if i upgrade to a 9.5KW shower i will need to use a 40A MCB and 10mm cable( is that correct? ). But What is the maximum power that the existing 6mm cable can handle as i really dont want to rip up the laminate flooring? the run is about 12 meters.
ps how can i measure this cable as far as i know it could well be a 10mm as it looks real thick?

COULD GIVE U THE GEN ON 6MM2, BUT I REALLY THINK THAT
U SHOULD USE A 10 MM2 CABLE FOR A 9.5 KW SHOWER.
SHOWER WOULD B 9500 WATTS DIVIDE BY 230 V EQUALS 41 A
A 6MM2 AT METHOD 4 WORST CASE SCENARIO FOR DERATING IS 32 AMP. 10 MM2 IS RATED AT 43 A. EVEN THOUGH A SHORT RUN, 10 MM2 IT IS.
