Showers Running Cold When new Shower Head is Attached?

by Alan1970 » Mon Dec 18, 2017 2:13 pm

Hello, We have two showers powered from an electric pump (from a hot water tank) both ran fine I fitted a new hose and shower head to the second bathroom and it now runs cold. The hose is the same bore as the previous one and runs very hot when the head is not fitted (from the end of the loose hose), as soon as the head is fitted the water runs cold. The main bathroom has recently started doing the same.

We have tried new heads and hoses but it's always the same. occasionally the water runs hot from the shower head for about 45 seconds then goes cold.

both showers are Heritage systems, bottom hose, I have removed the front cover and they are both adjusted for max temp.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Alan.

Hi Allan, Its possible the pump flow switch is not functioning correctly on the hot side of the pump. If the new shower head has a more restricted flow than the old head the flow may not be triggering the switch. If the second shower is showing signs of the same the switch could be on its way out.

Thanks for your help, I'll try replacing the switch. Alan.
