silicon sealer has shrunk around UPVC windows

by sockpuppet » Sun Jul 27, 2008 6:56 pm

The silicon sealer around my UPVC windows has shrunk leaving gaps.

The window units are fine so I would like to remove all the old sealant and replace with new, is there any special tools or chemicals I can or should use to do this? I have 9 windows to re-seal (white frames)

Thanks

Hi SP,

There is a silicon digester out there but its expensive I believe. Best way is sharp stanley knife to cut out all old sealant, clean then reseal with a GOOD quality sealant for windows.

use a low modular silicone sealant this will adhere better to the frame and
brickwork
