socket fault

hi all the problem is the socket in my bedroom wen we switch it on the bulb in the lamp flickers and there seems to be a buzzing noise coming from the socket the socket is a spur which was put in a couple of years ago n av had no problem til now just wondering if its worth changing the socket or cud it be something more serious ? cheers bazza

Turn off the electric and replace the socket.
Check the wiring in the plug - make sure the screws are tight.

At least one terminal is not screwed up tight enough by the sound of it and a wire is loose. Ensure all are screwed tight.
