Splashback with mirror tiles

by BRU » Mon Jun 29, 2009 2:43 pm

Hi,

I am going to use mirror tiles to create a splashback and along the wall in my kitchen. I have been advised to use an easypoxy grout and clear sealant but can't find any information about the type of adhesive to use. Would the easypoxy cover boths purposes? Any recommendations?

Thanks

BRU,
If you are going to tile over existing tiles use and adhesive designed for this, otherwise any tile adhesive will do. Epoxy grout should not need any sealant but you will find it sticky and horrible stuff to apply.

Thanks Stoneyboy, and also for the warning! We are tiling straight onto the wall so I'll get that type.

I've come to this thread a little late and sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with SB.

You should NOT use any old tile adhesive for mirror tiles. You need a low modulus silicone adhesive like this one:

but I would agree that epoxy grout is in general quite, quite revolting stuff to use! If anything the BAL one you mention is one of the best anyhow.

Thanks Rosebery, I haven't yet started so got your post in time. I will get the stuff you suggested.

Cheers
