stained kitchen doors

by Jacquie » Wed May 30, 2007 8:14 pm

My kitchen is now some years old, but in good condition. I would like however to clean the cupboard fronts, preferably by removing them and stripping them before retreating them. They are limed oak. I am looking for suggestions as to what I can strip them with and then what I can recoat with, without damaging the wood. Over the years they have become dirty and sticky, but are difficult to clean due to the carving on the fronts. Advice please?

Rub with a soft cloth dipped in white spirit. You can recoat them with pretty much anything but once cleaned we prefer to wax doors or treat with Danish or Teak oil. See our timber floor finishes project.
