Staircase sinking...??

by optimus » Tue May 11, 2010 8:46 pm

Hello,

I am currently in the process of choosing a builder and I noticed something strange at a friend's house who recently had a loft conversion completed last year around October.

Basically there appears to be a gap between the edge of the loft staircase and the wall which it is fitted against....the stair case looks like it is sinking.

When I asked my friend, he said that it was his fault because he wanted to start using the loft more or less as soon as it was built and that the builder warned him that this may happen because a scaffolding was not left in place for long enough.

Does this sound correct?

optimus,
Sounds highly unlikely - if the conversion was stable enough for the construction work then it would have been OK for normal use.
