Postby diyanthony » Wed May 20, 2009 7:45 pm

I'm building a garage on an incline. 1. Must foundation be level or can I follow grade under frost line? 2. Can I step foundation starting under existing foundation up to new foundation pour? Note: All pours under frost line w/ req requiring 1' x 1' foundation. I hav illustration of scenerio. Let me kno, and I can send. [/img]

diyanthony,
Yes the foundations can follow the incline but they must be a series of level steps.

As a rule, w/ a 1' x 1' foundation, the lenght of the overlap has to b as least the height of the foundation which in this case 1 ft. I may hav to do serveral overlaps....is that ok???

diyanthony,
You can have as many steps as you like but the more steps the more concrete is used because of the overlaps.
