    stop cock replacment

    Postby uk_ducati » Wed Apr 09, 2008 11:53 am

    hi
i need to replace a stop cock as it is leaking. it is quite old so i would like to replace the entire unit and not just the packing gland part as i would imagine that finding a suitable replacement would be hard. my problem is the pipe that is coming into the property. it measures just under 22mm. probably about 21.5mm. the tap has connex type nuts on it and looks like it goes from a 22 to a 15 although i am not sure what size the 22 end is.. does anybody have any ideas about what type of tap i need to fit and also fitting it to the 21.5 diameter pipe. the pipe above is a standard 15mm so no problems there. the material is copper

    thankyou

It's probably imperial pipe, a 22mm compression fitting will work, It's only capillary/soldered fittings where you have a problem and need to buy special imperial fittings.

So a 22mm connector with a 22mm-15mm reducer then a 15mm stop tap will do the job.

you can get a plastic stop cock that covers all sizes,as it has a mutitude of sealing rings for all sizes.i fitted 1 and it is fine.i had a problem as the 22mm stop cock did not fit.i got it from a merchant in gillingham dorset
