storage heaters going off while others work

by jaki » Sun Feb 07, 2010 9:46 am

i have five storage heaters that heat the house fine. however every few months two of them stop working. I get the electrician and he finds nothing wrong with the wiring, the heaters, the fuses - nothing. however he jiggles a few wires going into the fuse box ,tightens some screws and the heaters come on again - last night they stopped working again.
What is wrong and how do i get it fixed?

jaki,
If the "electrician" can solve the problem doing what you describe then you should get in a different electrician.
end

The problem is the internal stat in the storage heater, basically it a spring loaded bimetal strip. if clothes are left on the heater it heats up and trips the power to the storage heater.
its easily reset by pushing on the stat.
