suitable sealant for shower try

by colcurly » Wed Feb 17, 2010 10:44 pm

can anyone suggest the BEST silcone to use , to seal the gap between a shower tray and tiled wall.
at present it looks likes the tray is leaking and has now come through the hall ceiling below.
installation is now out of guarantee with a certain big DIY store, and trying to contact the fitter, employed by them.
reluctant to use him, as this is the SECOND TIME this has happened, in less than 2 years.

I am afraid you may find it almost impossible to repair the leak. Once the seal is broken, the wall behind becomes waterlogged and begins to fail and any sealant will not stick properly.

Of course you need to discover why the seal failed in the first place. It is often because the tray is not fixed firmly in the first place and the movement simply breaks any bond.

Having said that, the best silicone we have found is Everbuild Forever white.

Good luck.
