Hi,

why did you not note how original was connected?!!!!!!!!!!!
once more 'red-to-red, black-to-black, BL[U]EW-to-BITS!'.

At light put both reds into a spare connector not to the light.
one black to L, other to N; bare earths sleeve/tape green/yellow and connect to earth of light.

the black at switch should be sleeved/taped red as it is a Live switch wire & not a Neutral.
if you can tell which black it is at light it should be likewise marked as switched live.
See project section at top of page, scroll to replacing a light fitting, all in colour,
the reason it blew was when you switched on, it put a short circuit across switch which may have damaged it, be prepared to replace switch.
regards.
