hi there please can you tell how to take an old staircase newel post out and put a new one back in, my newel post is an old rotton one and needs to be changed, please can any one help,,,,,

this is not an easy or straightforward job and it is easy to get it wrong.

it is critical that you get it right, a loose newel post will compromise the strength of the handrail. could result in a nasty injury, i would get a carpenter in to do it for you.
