    the best book to buy??

    Postby charelluk2002 » Mon Mar 28, 2011 2:53 pm

    Hi everyone,

I am looking into being able to get renewable energy at home and I am wanting to do this myself. I wanted to know if there are any good books out there I should start with?

I found a site that reviews some ebooks on the subject

    http://www.theneedtoknowreviews.com/goinggreen/

and think I'm gonna buy the one it recommends but wanted to know if any1 knows of any others out there which might be better?

    Thanks

If you are thinking about solar hot water, forget it!
Unless you are using secondhand bits and pieces it will never pay for itself.
If you work out how little you pay in heating hot water for washing etc:
you will find a typical shower costs about 7p. Multiply this out over a year, it comes to very little.
If you are thinking of solar PV and the Fit, you will only be paid if it is fitted by a professional company, then the cost is astronomical and it will wear out before it pays for itself.
You also need to have a roof facing south, large enough to fit 4kw and you need to guarantee that no one will plant a tree or build a house near you that will put the panels in the shade.
Can you guarantee that for the next 35 years?
