The valve on the radiator is stiff - I cannot turn the heat

Postby nessas7 » Tue Oct 09, 2007 3:19 pm

I turned on my radiator after a period of 4 months for around 20 minutes. I then turned the valve off (to shut mode). Right afterwards it became stiff and now does not turn either way. What can I do. Help...Winter is on its way.

Simply Build It

To the people that viewed but were unable to answer my query I figured a way to solve the problem. Unscrew this at the top, apply some oil around the pin, leave for 5 minutes then use a plier to gently turn in the opposite angle (to turn on). This should release the jam. You may see slight weeping of the valve so just use a cloth/ tissue to absorb the water.

Sounds like you were turning the valves the wrong way, or you turned them off too tight, they don't normally seize up after 20 mins.

Opposite angle ? or direction ?

If the valve leaked when you opened it, it's probably still leaking now.
