Thermocouple keeps burning out

Postby whittas » Tue Oct 14, 2008 9:12 pm

Hi We have an oldish Floor standing Ideal Standard E type CF boiler. It works fine with the exception of the thermocouple which only seems to last around 3-4 months before the end is burnt out causing the boiler to not light. Whilst it is a 10 minute job to replace and they only cost around a fiver I was wondering if perhaps the pilot was too high and if there is an easy way to adjust it's strength?

Probably using cheap universal parts, buy a decent thermocouple and it should last. As said previously - RGI needed.
