THRESHOLD STRIP - Difference in floor levels

    Postby CrashBangWallop » Fri Jun 26, 2009 11:55 am

Hi, I have had a new bathroom and they laid 12mm tiles onto Detra matting and then onto 10mm plyboard. I now have a one and a half INCH difference in height to the landing floor.
I want a threshold stip to bridge the two but can't seem to find anything.

    Any ideas?

    Please

    ".........and then onto 10mm plyboard."

Oh dear thats nowhere near thick enough even with Ditra IMHO. Hope you got a guarantee out of them. Did you instruct them to use a thin ply because you were worried about the height differential?

"I now have a one and a half INCH difference in height to the landing floor."

Yes thats quite normal. The best way to avoid that (and provide a very stable substrate for tiling) is to strip the floor right back to the joists. Lay 25mm WPB and tile over that. If on first floor I'd still put Ditra down as well.

Don't look in Bargain and Quick or any of the sheds - go to a tile shop or a flooring shop. They'll help you.

    Cheers
