TILING ONTO A LAMINATED BATH SIDE

by Bellafewshe » Fri Sep 26, 2008 12:56 pm

Can anyone advise me on what preparation is required before tiling onto a laminated bath side and what sort of adhesive and grouting should I use?

Many thanks

most tile adhesives can be used to tile on top of existing glazed ceramic tile. if they can stick to a glaze they should also be able to stick to laminate. i'd go for a flexible grout and adhesive. stiffen the panel if necessary with battens at the rear to reduce bowing and movement.

ensure that the surface is spotlessly clean and a rub-down with some fine sandpaper would do no harm.

good luck!
