Tiling over asphalt flooring

I propose tiling over an exising asphalt floor in the kitchen with ceramic floor tiles. Looking at the instructions on the adhesive it states 'not to be used over vinyl or non porous floors'. I have in the past tiled a toilet floor with ceramic floor tiles after using PVA primer. What's the problem?
