    Timer for immersion heater

    Postby drewchad » Sat Aug 21, 2010 9:45 am

Hi I want to fit a ranger 3 programmable timer to an immersion switch.

There are 2 live wires into the immersion switch, standard switch with red flourescent light, one at the top & one at the bottom marked load; which one do I need to re-route through the timer?

Also when everything is wired correctly do I leave the switch permanently on & will know the timer is working when the red light comes on? Or will the red light be permanently on regardless of whether the heating is on or not?

    Thanks for any help.

It took some time to find the PDF instruction sheet but once I did it shows just two wires which one goes to a connector block provided and from there to immersion heater the other would replace where you had removed the line feed to immersion from. All power for clock is from a battery so looking at instructions it does not seem to matter which is which of the two wires fitted to the unit.
