Tips and Advice Needed on How to Replace a Bathroom Mixer Tap

by KennyG » Wed Oct 21, 2015 2:59 pm

Need to replace a mixer bathroom tap but looking at a couple of Youtube videos on the subject it looks far more complicated than replacing a single hot or cold tap. Is this something which could be done by a novice or should I bite the bullet and pay for a plumber? Annoyingly, most of the existing tap seems OK but the horizontal lever which turns the water on & off won't stay in properly when it's screwed in, something wrong with the thread I think. Any help appreciated!

Hi KennyG,
Here's a great set of instructions for how to replace mixer taps (or mixer valves) in a bathroom:

https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/mixervalves.htm

It does depend on your DIY confidence level, but replacing a mixer tap is something many DIYers can do. Good luck with it.

If you are looking for a plumber, you can find a local one here:
