    Toilet not flushing - help!!

I'm looking for some tips regarding my dodgy toilet.

Recently I was forced to change my toilet handle as the plastic holding bolt cracked.

Since fitting the new handle, the cistern does not empty when I flush. I have checked that the handle is correctly positioned and that the lever arm is fully extended when the handle is pushed, but the water does not drain. Sometimes if I rapidly press the lever several times, the water does drain and the toilet flushes. However, this tactic has stopped working the past few days which has left me having to slop out!!

In an attempt to identify the problem, I removed the handle completely and manually tried to flush the toilet by pulling the lever arm, but this also did not work, and therefore leads me to believe that it's not the toilet handle that is the problem.

The cistern is filling ok and reaches the required level, so I'm at a loss why it has suddenly stopped draining.

Anyone got any tips on what might be the problem and how to solve it?

    cheers

Sounds like the diaphragm in the flush unit has split. Take a look at the projects section , Cold water tanks. Details of how to replace it are in there
