    Toilet Siphon problems.

Postby peter hooper » Sat Jan 29, 2011 9:36 am

I have recently installed a new handle operated siphon in my cistern.
    Two problems:-
    (1) I don't get a woosh of water when the handle is operated, and therefore the waste is not always taken away. I get a steady flow of water. My other cistern in the house gives a woosh of water to start with. How do I get that to happen with the new siphon?

    (2) Every now and then the flow of water keep going and going, and won't stop. The only way to stop it is to turn the water off at the cistern inlet and let the cistern empty. The turn the water on again, the cistern fills, and the siphon has stopped. Given this is a brand new siphon, what's going on?

    Help please.

Have you set the siphon up properly ? some have an insert to determine the amount of water used to flush the toilet normally 2 settings 4 litre or 6 litre.

Check instructions of siphon for flush water capacity.

Yep, done that. The siphon has 3 settings, for 6, 7 or 9 litres.
I have it set to 6 litres.
