Toliet Cistern wont't fully fill & toilet hard to flush

by worgan » Sun Feb 08, 2009 5:32 pm

Help!!

My toilet cistern will not fully fill, it will currently only fill to about 2/3s of capacity.

I can make it fill by holding the little plastic lever down until the cistern is full, then I can flush it. However flushing does require vigorous pumping of the handle to make the siphon fill so sometimes this filling and flushing process can take several attempts.

I've checked the forums but this doesn't seem to be quite the same problem as anyone else!

The toilet is fairly old it is an Armitage Shanks Brasilia. I will be calling a plumber before too long to fit a new loo anyway but could do with fixing this myself in the short term as I've just been made redundant!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Go to the DIY projects section and look for my toilket wont flush. Then, when you have fixed the diaphragm type toilet into the search box and you will be amazed at the info that pops up.
