Treatment for House Longhorn Beetle

by deesae » Thu Nov 13, 2008 12:02 pm

I read with interest that the above beetle should only be treated professionally. I think it is this beetle I have in wooden roof rafters. One company wants to use a toxic pharmaceutical (that can corrode metal) and another company suggests drilling holes and injecting a pharmaceutical. The wood is varnished. Could you please inform me as to which method is the accepted form of treatment.

Hi

Have you had a look at the DIY Projects area at all: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects.htm especially the projects "Insect Attacks in Timber": https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/woodworm.htm They are presented by a company called Property Repair Systems and they have a great deal of knowledge and experience in this field that you may find very useful

Regards
