Unusual Internal Walls Like Hardboard With Plaster Both Sides

by RobAitch » Sun Oct 15, 2017 2:39 pm

+Hi all

I've just tried to fix some battens to an internal wall in my house. I've found that its not masonry behind the plaster or plaster board but seems a bit like hardboard with plaster on both sides.

Its thin, the drill bit went all the way through and cracked a tile in the bathroom next door. It does sound solid and seems robust though.

I've never come across anything like this, I've only ever dealt with masonry walls and stud walls. I've no idea what lies beneath or how I could go about fixing anything to it.

Its a 1960's ex-council house.

Anyone any ideas what it could be?
