upstairs sockets keep blowing the fuse in the fuse box

    Hi there,

I wonder if someone could offer some advice.

Over the last few days the fuse has been randomly blowing in the upstairs sockets in my house.

As I said, it is completely random and happens regardless of whether an upstairs socket is being used or not. I've isolated the problem to one socket, as this is where the 'pop' with a blue flash occurs before the fuse goes. I've checked the wiring on the socket and everyone is connected okay.

Could there be a problem with the way the wires are laid under the floorboards?

    Any suggestions would be great

    Hi replace the socket!
even if it looks OK might have got damp at some time (decorating?).
Once it blows then carbon track builds up inside and slightest thing will cause flashover, it's a very cheap way to clear a fault!
