Very noisy boiler

by Edpaterson » Sat Nov 29, 2008 7:17 pm

My boiler is 7 years old (a HENRAD 50FF) and seems to have developed a very annoying buzz when it is on. The buzz seems to be to be close to the 50Hz buzz which sometimes come with electronic equipment. Any suggestions as to how I might reduce this?

Firstly you need to find where the noise is coming from - check solenoid on gas valve.

Noisy boiler

Hi

Thanks to htg engineer for his response. I have checked out the boiler and it does seem as if the noise is coming from the solenoid valve. When I restrain the coil the noise is reduced. Is there a permanent fix for this problem?

Hi

Thanks to both Steve and htg engineer for their advice. I shall now enter the jungle to find a reliable CORGI registered heating engineer.
