Have to put slates on a low pitch roof - best waterproofing

Hello,

I have to put slates on a low pitch roof (match surrounding buildings), too low to stop some water being sucked under slates , what is the best waterproofing to put over the ply decking?

Some have suggested torch on felt, how is this done, how many layers would have to be torched on?

Are they're any other options

A polyester reinforced roofing felt run in layer across the roof will do the job. You could use one of the modern interlocking concrete slates which are OK for a low as a 15 degrees pitch.

Felting is a bit 'overkill'. Membrane will do, but I would use a rubber compound sealant on the timber, then you can forget about it. Interlocking tiles good idea from Stoney, if it has to be slate, look at new imitation ones made from weird plastic type stuff, they lock and look right too.
