draft exclusion question

hello,

we have a gap vertically on our front door between the door and door frame. We have a curtain to help keep heat in but doesn't feel all that efficient and am also worried about how much heat is escaping. Rather than investing in a new door will a strip of EPDM improve our situation and help retain the heat in the house?

If its a timber door and frame buy a brush nylon seal strip and fit this round the frame.
