| im knocking through a new door way(2ft 6in wide),i was thinking of using a 1200mmx200mm concrete lintel,the new door way would be on the ground floor and it's an exterior wall.the wall i would be knocking through is a 2 storey wall.would that size lintel be o.k???????? |

A lot will depend on what openings are around the proposed doorway. I would strongly recommend you get a surveyor to have a look and suggest alternatives.

| Hi guys, avid diy enthusiast here, first time opening a doorway, small one storey extension, unsure of brickwork, whats the best lintel to use and how do i fit it? cheers. |

Sorry can't really say unless you give details of what is above the opening eg bricks, roof tiled, roof flat ......

Do the ceiling rafters run parallel or at right angles to the proposed opening?
