Hi can someone help? im looking at getting a combi boiler installed as my current system is old. The system is cold water fed from a tank in the loft and runs 2 x large double rads and 5 small double rads and also the hot water. I want to rip out the tanks and cylinders etc and create more room but how do i pick the correct boiler to run my current heating system. Also any ideas for decent boilers?
Before you take this rather drastic and retrograde step, have you considered the problems that come with a combi?
A combi is fine for a person living by themself.
It can work when there are only two people and each of you knows where the other one is and what they are doing.
When you have a family, there will be times when you cannot get hot water from a tap. Worse having a shower and losing the hot water can be a pain. If you are in an area of low mains pressure you may not be able to get any hot water in times of high demand, like in the morning and evening. You may well find that contrary to your expectations hot water will cost more.
