2.4m boards but 2.6m high ceilings - how do I fill the gap

Hello All

First post so dont all shout (or laugh too loudly )

I want to dot and dab walls in upstairs bedroom.
I have already boarded the ceiling and have 2.4m x 1.2m tapered edge 12.5mm boards to do the wall.
Problem is my ceilings are 2.6m from floor to ceiling ie. leaving a 200mm gap if I apply a full board.
How do I get round filling in that 200mm gap ?
Is it a case that I apply the full board and then cut out 200mm strips and add them on top (with the intention of applying scrim tape and gett boards skimmed ) or what ?

I so wish I had employed a builder who could use a tape measure !

OR find a supplier of 3.6 boards, fit false ceiling or deep skirtings.

1. Cut your boards but not 200 mm strips - far too thin! Use say 1300/1300 for the first boards. That will give you 2 x 1100 off cuts. Cut your third board at 1500 and use one of the offcuts on top. For the fourth piece use the second 1100 offcut first and put a larger 1500 piece above it. Work round the room that way. Make sure you use plenty of adhesive - particularly along the joins. Too many people D&D with too few dabs per 2400 board.

You'll probably end up using between ½ and 1 extra board than you originally anticipated but its cheap.

2. Put full board 100mm off floor. Cover up top 100mm with 127mm coving and bottom 100mm gap with skirting.
