I bought an Aga enamelled cast iron stove pipe to colour-match a Dovre stove, but the pipe is slightly too large to fit into the stove collar. Can I file down the enamel surface to make it fit ? Or is there a better way ?

D,

IT MAY BE EASIER TO REMOVE SUFFICIENT MATERIAL FROM THE STOVE COLLAR BORE (DEPENDING ON THE WALL THICKNESS OF THE COLLAR AND THE AMOUNT OF MATERIAL THAT NEEDS TO BE REMOVED.
THIS WILL ALSO RETAIN THE ENAMEL FINISH TO YOUR STOVE PIPE AND MIGHT AVOID FRACTURING OF THE CAST IRON PIPE.

TO DO THIS, MAKE USE OF A CYLINDRICAL GRINDING WHEEL AND/OR SANDING WHEEL FITTED INTO THE CHUCK OF AN ELECTRIC DRILL OR DREMMEL TOOL.

HOPE THIS HELPS,

ALDA.
