| HELP! Have just started renovating 1968 chalet bungalow and although was supposed to have been completely roof insulated found that no insulation behind any pitch ceilings ie most of upstairs, so got to remove board which is not plasterboard but something like half inch thick cardboard-- vague idea may be fireboard? Anyway if can get away without removing bits outwith insulation job but replacing stuff I do have to remove with conventional plasterboard, can I skim plaster over the lot including fibreboard or wharever it is? Anyone know as have had conflicting advice so far! |

angela,
If you can do the insulating without removing the fibreboard then fit plasterboard ontop of the fibreboard. Do not try plastering fibreboard direct.

angela,
Building regulations now require you use 12.5mm thick board but if you can find it you could use 9.5mm.

12.5mm for ceilings, 9.5mm for walls normally. but 12.5mm is now being used for most applications.
