RediDrivas too long

I need to fix various things to my plasterboard stud walls, so I bought some 35mm RediDrivas. The first thing I notice is that the actual screws they come with only go in so far. They stick out about 15mm or something when fully screwed in.

Most of the fixings for things that get screwed to the wall are only a few mm in depth (e.g. brackets for shelves, utensil rack bracket, picture frames). So have I just completely wasted my money on these RediDrivas? What can I buy that will fix strongly to the wall but allow the screw to go as deep as it needs to, to be flush with the bracket it is fixing to the wall?

Hi

It is possible to cut 5mm or so off the end of the screw and still screw in perfectly well.
It is also possible to buy shorter self tapping screws.

Unfortunately I don't have any equipment to cut the ends off screws, and I also have had trouble finding any screws with a shorter length but same diameter that will fit into the RediDriva base.

It is possible to shorten the screws with a hacksaw if you have access to one. Just make sure that you clamp the screws securley to avoid any damage/injuries etc....

i think the problem is that you may need to put a tiny bit more effort into the screw to push it passed the spike , this is a typical problem when first using reddy drive fixings if you notice at the spike end there is a hole which the screw can then force its way through
