by alberthalliwell » Sun Mar 09, 2008 2:47 pm

I HAVE REMOVED A DEFECTIVE DIMMER SWITCH AND AM TRYING TO REPLACE WITH A STANDARD 1 WAY LIGHT SWITCH.THERE ARE 2 REDS;2 BLUES;2YELLOWS AND 1 EARTH. I HAVE TRIED JUST CONNECTING 1 RED AND 1 BLUE (HAD A LOOK AT MY OTHER LIGHTS) BUT THERE IS NO POWER? THE YELLOWS ARE THE PROBLEM THEN? HOW DO I WIRE IT UP. MANY THANKS; ALBERT :(

From the colours I would have thought you need an intermediate switch? Or two x two way switches. Have you got more than one switch to control the same lights? Triple and earth is normally used with two way systems. But there is no standard colour code for two way systems. If I try to give you advise without first working out what you have I could make things worst so at this point my suggestion is to look at projects and tell us if more than one switch and is so is there two or three switches working same light.
