washer dryer not working -pos door seal

My washer dryer no longer works since i got a dressing gown cord caught in the door seal. It makes noise and initially filled iwth water without spinning. Since trying to put door seal back in place it also no longer filles with water. I would be happy with replacing the door seal but is it possible that having something caught in door seal may have put pressure on, and broken another internal part of machine?
