What do I do with the ground wire?

by pow526 » Sun Oct 28, 2007 10:24 am

Please advise.
I am trying to change my hanging ceiling light. The new one is Metal and has 3 wires to connect to blue(N) Brown(L) and Green/Yellow(E). This is Ok.
I also have a Ground wire (thin) green/yellowstripe this is already screwed to the new light.
What do I attach the other end too?
Can I attach it to the Earth (green and yellow) ?

Thanks

Hi pow526,
The ground wire, is earth bonding to your metal light fitting you don't connect anything to it, it will/should be connected to earth via your termination block on the light fitting. So just install as normal.
Hope helpfull and good luck
