what tester????

can anyone recommend a tester for domestic installations? what are alphatech like? it's going for about 435, is that good?

Depends on which model I used to have an alphatech 2120 or some such, I just gave it away!...
Ok except it has a 'no- trip' range for testing loop impedance without tripping RCD, it worked but readings were totally meaningless, as it tests at a very low current to not cause trip slightest resistance caused hugely pessimistic results.
tried 'Fluke' binocular shaped offering but found so many function buttons to operate each time drove my made, needed to keep looking up book .
Now settled for megger MFT1502, the latest version even better, logical rotary selector switch, easy'
usuall disclaimers & spare test leads IE 'megger expensive'
