When is a window not a window ?

Just planning a new build, extension to kitchen and dining room. Instead of retaining the kitchen window we want to fit 2 sets of french windows and a few velux roof windows, but I'm told to comply with building regs we need a normal window ? Is this true ?

Best thing to do is speak to you building planning department of your ideas. Its up to them what happens with windows/ doors etc. So long as your not overlooking others they should be happy. Or it effects the structure of your build. Cheers

Hi, thanks for that. I think the issue is to do with ventilation, but will check more with planning...
