Wiring a dimmer switch with 4 connections

by johnpw22 » Sat Jan 09, 2010 5:50 pm

My daughters bedroom dimmer just broke, so I hunted my workshop and found a replacement - but its connections are labelled 1, 2, 3, and 4 only. The original just had two wires and earth... live and neutral - easy, so which connections do I use to avoid blowing it up. It is switched and fused...? Thanks!

You have got an intermediate switch, but you can still use it, use 1&3,

Thanks for that - just checking - is 1 live and 3 neutral, or doesn't it matter?
